I Believe (Ani Ma-Amin)
Thirteen Principles of Faith
Note: The following principles have been adapted from the thirteen
principles of faith of Rabbinical Judaism.
1.) I believe with complete faith that there is only one God - the God of Israel, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and
Jacob (Deut. 6:4). The Lord is God and besides Him there is no other, (Deut. 4:45) apart from Him there is no Savior
(Isa. 43:11).
2.) I believe with complete faith that the words of the ancient Hebrew prophets are true.
3.) I believe with complete faith that, as the Hebrew prophet Isaiah foretold, a virgin miraculously conceived,
and gave birth to a son. He is named in Hebrew Immanu-El, which means, ‘God with us’ (Isa. 7:14).
4.) I believe with complete faith that, as the prophet Isaiah foretold, this son is also called “Wonderful Counselor
(Pele Yoetz), Mighty God (El Gibor), Everlasting Father (Avi-ad), and Prince of Peace (Sar Shalom). He is the promised
Messiah who will take up His position on David’s throne. His kingdom and rule will never end (Isa. 9:6-7).
5.) I believe with complete faith that, as the prophet Isaiah foretold, this Messiah willingly gave up His own
life as a sacrificial lamb. Adonai laid all of our iniquities upon Him and His blood makes atonement (kaparah)
for our sins (Isa. 53).
6.) I believe with complete faith that this same Messiah is returning whenever the Father decrees, as the Lion
of Judah (Yehudah) to judge all people of the Earth, and to defeat the enemies of Israel from all the nations.
(Zech. 12:9) At this time, He will establish peace and harmony upon the earth, executing perfect justice and righteousness
(Isa. 11). He will bless all those who have blessed Israel and curse all those who have cursed her (Gen. 12:3,
Obadaiah 1:15).
7.) I believe with complete faith that when He returns, the people remaining in Israel will recognize Him as their
Messiah and will mourn for Him (Zech. 12:10). On Mt. Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance and all who
call upon the name of YHVH will be saved (Joel 2:32).
8.) I believe with complete faith that, as the prophet Daniel foretold, the dead will be raised to life - some
to everlasting life with God and some to eternal condemnation (sheol). (Daniel 12:2) The Messiah will judge people
according to their deeds on this earth (Matthew 25:39-31-46).
9.) I believe with complete faith that God has made an everlasting covenant with the nation of Israel, and will
never reject His people or replace them with an alternative group of people (Jer 31:31-37) (Rom. 11:1).
10.) I believe with perfect faith that God has given Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants claim to the land
of Israel forever, by a sworn oath upon Himself, (Gen. 15:18) and that the Spirit of God is gathering the exiles
of Israel home from all four corners of the earth, to dwell in their own land. (Ezek 36:24-38) All those who have
tried to take possession of the land of Israel or divide it up for themselves will be judged and destroyed (Obad.
1:10, Ezek. 35:10-11; Joel 3:2).
11.) I believe with perfect faith that God is the God, not only of the Jews, but also of those called out from
among the Gentiles (Rom. 3:29) and that all people of every nation, tongue and tribe are welcomed to enter into
the covenant God promised to the House of Israel and the House of Judah through faith in the blood of the Messiah,
Yeshua (Jer. 31:31-34; Zech 8:23; Rom 2:11).
12.) I believe with perfect faith that our faith does in no way nullify or abolish the Torah. (Rom. 3:31; Mat.
5:17-19); the laws and commandments of God are good, just, and holy; (Rom. 7:12) and that God promises a blessing
for obedience and punishment for disobedience (Deut. 11:26) (Prov. 28:9) (Ps.119). As Believers in the New Covenant,
the Torah is now written in our hearts and minds (Jer. 31:33). When we receive a new heart of flesh in exchange
for our stony hearts, the Spirit of God released us from the bondage of sin (lawlessness) and causes us to walk
in obedience to His Torah (Ez. 36:27).
13.) I believe with complete faith that, just as the Israelites in Egypt were saved from the wrath of God by grace,
through their faith in the blood of the Passover lamb, so are we today given assurance that we will find salvation
and everlasting peace with God through our faith in the New Covenant sealed in the blood of the Passover lamb,
Yeshua HaMashiach (The Messiah) (Ex. 12:13; Isa. 54:10; Matt. 26:28; John 1:29).
