2008 Liberty Cries
I prayed last night for a long time, because things did not look too good for John McCain... I asked God to help me accept things either way, and that His will be done... Needless to say, I was still heartbroken this morning. I immediately started writing this poem.
"But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them." -- I Samuel 8:6-7
"No one knows that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of man." -- Matthew 24:36-37
-Liberty Cries-
by Bryan Miles
The Statue of Liberty cries today.
The vote of the people got in the way.
Not always does the majority, make the right choice.
When Noah built his ark, sin too, had its voice!
The crowds raised their fists, and shook them towards the sky.
The heavens poured down, and started to cry!
New York Harbor still shines, with the rising of her torch.
But, something stirs in the background;
And, sits on her porch!
The lights of each city, shine with a deceptive gleam.
Young men will see visions, and old men will dream!
The Washington Monument stands majestic and tall.
Yet, the Tower of Babel would tumble and fall!
The cherry blossoms bloom.
The Potomac still flows.
Something's stirring in the air!
It's under everyone's nose!
Why don't they smell it?
Why doesn't everyone see?
They run through the streets,
Shout with jubilant glee!
In the Lincoln Memorial, a past President sits.
He fought to free the slave, and somehow never quits!
A man is still a slave, to whatever holds his heart.
Sin fills a nation, and tears it apart!
The Pentagon walls were intruded upon.
Where is the World Trade Center?
It's fallen, it's gone!
Yes our flags they still wave;
The old red, white and blue.
The stars stand for something;
But the stripes, they do too!
The stripes of our God, who was beaten and bruised;
Then hung on a cross, and falsely accused!
God is looking down, at the filth in our land.
We make our decisions.
He rules by His hand!
The Statue of Liberty's, still shedding a tear.
But nobody knows the day or the year!
Nobody knows!
Doesn't anybody care?
Better lift up thine eyes!
There's something in the air...!!!

Bryan Miles Bio:
God looked down on a very broken vessel, one that had fallen and was broken in a million pieces... He is still in the process of putting me back together, piece by piece. I am a father of four children, and four grandchildren. They all know the Lord, and they all have been a source of my love in writing for children. I have a children's book coming out after Christmas 2008, it entitled: "Faithful the Fire Truck." It will teach children what it means to become a New Creature in Christ. Every time I sit down to write, I start by saying this prayer:
"Father, I know I am a broken vessel in need of repair... Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. May the words I write, pour out from your heart as well. In Jesus name.
God has never let me down yet...nor will He.
My favorite scripture is: "And such were some of you, but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the Spirit of our God." -- 1 Corinthians 6:11
This sums it up for me! I was all of those things, and more, but God reached down in His mercy and grace, and loved this broken vessel enough to put it back together.
