The Message of Yeshua
"Our Problem"

Yeshua (Jesus) reveals to us something that we may have already known. We are in trouble. We have problems. Yeshua, however, refines our image of our problems by focussing our minds on "THE Real Problem."

The real problem is not the loneliness in our urban societies, it is not crime, it is not sexual abuse, it is not the unequal distribution of wealth. Yes, they are all real problems, significant problems. But they are not
THE Real Problem.

The real problem is so simply stated in Romans 3:23,
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." All people capable of sinning, have done so, and that has resulted in a rupture in the relationship between God's created (you and me) and God. The Scriptures are clear on this. It says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Messiah Yeshua our Lord." (Romans 6:23).

What is sin?

Simply stated, All wrongdoing is sin,... (1 John 5:17). Sin is doing what is wrong. God tells us what is wrong. For example God told Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:1-7) not to eat the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden. They did, and that was sin! Because of that sin, we Adams children, are all subject to that first sin, as well as our own sins.

What's the problem with sin?

It brings a penalty. God has revealed this to us in His Word. Sin brings death.
Not physical death but a spiritual one, where we become alienated from God. This has always been the case. A couple of thousand years ago God said, "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." (Isaiah 59:2). We may not have realized it, but it was and is the case. Sin is a serious issue with God. Because of sin He flooded the world once (Genesis 6:13). Because of sin Yeshua died cruelly on the tree (cross).

Do you sin?

Everyone does, but not everyone has a consciousness that it is actually them who is doing the sinning. "If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives." (1 John 1:10).
All sin and if we say we don't, we immediately condemn ourselves because we are lying.

This is a heart issue, and not a behavioral one. Yeshua said, But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean'. "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander." (Matthew 15:18-19). It is our heart that generates sin. If our heart is absorbed with itself and self centered, all sorts of sins are produced. On the other hand if we begin to focus our heart on God, not ourselves, we are entering the process of dealing with sin for the rest of our lives.

The picture is depressing. Problems always are, but this problem has a solution. The solution can't be bought and you don't have to earn it. There is however a incredible power of God at work to end this depressing picture and bring you real peace (shalom). Read on...

The Answer To:
"The Real Problem"

Separated from God now by our own sins. Nobody's fault but our own. Condemned to a future of eternal punishment by being separated from God, despair would be the appropriate response to such a negative message. Yet with Yeshua (Jesus) message, there is hope not to despair. There is light, not darkness in the answer.

Yeshua said,
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost. (Luke 19:10). His life was all geared for one purpose, seeking and saving lost people of Israel. Saving them from what. The wages of their sins (Romans 6:23). He saw us in need and His first thought and action was to personally reach out to rescue us.

The rescue he reaches out with is encapsulated in the following verse.
"For it is by Grace (a name for Messiah) you have been saved (delivered), through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift from God (Ephesians 2:6-8 AGI). God says we are saved by His Grace (Messiah) and that it is a gift from Him.

What makes a gift a gift?

It is free!
You can't earn it. If you could, it would not be a gift, it would be a reward or a wage for work done. God's Salvation is not earned by doing anything but believeing on His Grace (Messiah). You can't pay for it. God says it this way, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal life (chai) in Messiah Yeshua our Lord." (Romans 6:23) . The only thing we earn is death with our sins. Eternal life is given to us by God as a free gift. God says, he saved (delivered) us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his lovingkindness. "He saved (delivered) us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit," (Titus 3:5).

Did you see that? He doesn't save us on the basis of how good (righteous) we are. His rescuing of us is based on HIS Lovingkindness (Grace). There is nothing any of us can do to earn God's favour or forgiveness.

But you say, "I'm basically a good person. I think God will take that into account." Think about it.
If you only sinned
once a day would that be a good record? Many would say, it sure would be.
Now, if you only lived to the age 20, and kept a record of these sins, you would have over
6,000 sins to account for before God. Do you feel confident coming to God and saying, "I'm basically a good person, I only have a little over 6,000 sins I would like bring into fellowship with you". Ridiculous, isn't it?

The reality is that all you need to be totally alienate from God is
just one sin. The Holy Scriptures yell us this: "For whoever keeps the whole Torah (God's teaching, guidance and instruction) and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all Torah (God's teaching, guidance and instruction)." (James 2:10). That is how serious God is about sin!

Yeshua came to die for us (
Psalm 22 Click Links Isaiah 53) that we might not suffer because of our sins. That is how serious God is about loving us. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."
(John 3:16-17).
