How Do I Pray?
Prayers to pray...

Mankind has a need to pray, and this need has been placed in Mankind by the Almighty G-d Himself. Over the years many have asked me "How do I pray, and what do I pray?" Here are some prayers to help you get started, these are some I use.

The question has been asked,
"What is prayer?" Plainly put: Prayer is simply talking to G-d - who you can not see with earthly eyes - but KNOW that HE IS!

The best way to pray is with
Kavanah (meditative focus). This way your not going to rush through it, but be in a state of contemplation or mediation. One can pray anywhere, and at anytime. One should however ask G-d's Holy Spirit to direct you in prayer, and He will.

You know you can even pray while you your sleeping, I do. You can pray in the shower, in the car, in bedroom, in the work place, and yes, even in the bathroom. G-d who made you knows your form, and to Him we are naked and not ashamed as Believers.

What to start with, is the Question?

I start with singing the Shema to the L-RD in the morning, and in the evening:
The Shema

The Shema is the watchword of the Jewish People, the testimony of belief in One G-d. Classically, it is said three times a day, just as the Prayer Yeshua gave His followers to pray was said three times a day. When the time comes to leave this world, it is the Shema which most Jewish people desire to have as the parting words from their lips. It is an affirmation of belief and trust in G-d, and a final affirmation of love of the Almighty G-d of Israel. Yeshua was asked what is the greatest Commandment, He answered "The first of all the Commandments is, 'Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment'" Mark 12:29-30.

Hear, O Israel, the L-RD is our G-d, the L-rd is One.
Blessed is the Name of His glorious Kingdom forever and ever.

And you shall love the L-RD your G-d, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your possessions. And these words that I command you this day shall be upon your heart. And you shall teach them to your children, and speak of them when you sit in your home, when you walk up the way, when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand and they shall be frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your homes and upon your gates.

Then I pray the prayer Yeshua Messiah gave to His Followers to pray. This prayer has the ability to purge our conscience. It was said three times a day in the Temple before it was destroyed in 70 AD.

The Disciples Prayer

Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done - in earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. And let us not enter into temptation, but deliver us from all evil: For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, forever. Amen.

Remember what Yeshua's words say following this wonderful prayer:

"For
if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you YOURS: But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Matthew 6:9-15

The next thing I pray for is the sick:

Prayer For the Sick

Almighty G-d, King of the Universe, my Father and the Father of my forefathers, may it be Your Will that You speedily send Your finished healing from Heaven. Heal the body, and spirit of [say the name of the person who needs healing], who is among all of the sick of this world. Heal O' G-d and Father of Yeshua, for I pray in the most holy Name of Yeshua, who is my Messiah. Father, Your Word tells me that, "Healing is the children's bread," so I claim a portion today for [say the persons name again]. I bless and praise for your Holy Name, for I know that when I ask - I receive by Your Word. Amen.

After I pray for the sick, I pray for myself:

A Personal Request

Almighty G-d, King of the Universe, who has given me life, my health, my family, my friends, my ministry, my all, and the potential to develop as a person, and to improve because of Your Living Word, I bless You. I thank You that I can come close to You because of Your Son Yeshua the Messiah, so please hear my request (ask here for your needs/all needs are to be laid before Him at this point, and be quit for a few minutes before going on). I thank you, Almighty G-d for your Goodness, for even this supplication is a gift from You, and for everything else You have given me so graciously. Praise and Bless Your Holy Name. Amen!

Now I close with a Psalm/Song to the L-rd, and I make it personal:

A Psalm of Thanksgiving

"I call out to the Almighty G-d, everyone on earth do the same! Serve G-d with gladness, I come before Him with joyous song on my lips! Know that the Almighty, He is G-d; It is He who made us and we are His elect - His nation and the sheep of His pasture. I enter into His gates with Thanksgiving, I enter His courts with praise. I say, give thanks to Him, bless and praise His Holy Name. The Almighty is Good; His Lovingkindness endures forever and ever, and His Faithfulness continues from generation to generation. I thank You O' Mighty One for giving me appreciation for You, and putting gratitude in my heart. Bless His Holy Name. Amen."

There is no real formula for prayer but that of a heart that will first go inward to examine itself, then upward to bask in His Presence. There in His Presence we receive fullness of joy that is full of Glory.

I also read every evening before I go to bed Our Daily Bread, it is very good and gives you something to muse in the night seasons.
