A Hebrew Witness - About Us

The Late Rev. Sam Stern

Hebrew Witness was founded in Brooklyn, N. Y. in 1965. The Internal Revenue Service granted it status as a non-profit, tax exempt religious organization in 1966.

During over thirty years of faithful ministry, Hebrew Witness held weekly worship services and Bible studies. Various churches and messianic congregations called Rev. Stern as a special speaker. He gave his testimony as a survivor of the Holocaust. Spoke about the nation of Israel. Presented special Passover Seders, etc.

At Bible conferences and other meetings he explained how he, a former Orthodox Jewish rabbi ordained in Poland, accepted Jesus as his Messiah shortly after he came to the United States. Later, after graduating from BIOLA (Bible Institute of Los Angeles), a four-year Bible college, he was ordained as a minister of the gospel.

Rev. Stern and some members of Hebrew Witness distributed tracts at beaches and on busy streets and spoke to Jewish people from different national backgrounds about their Messiah.

In addition Rev. Stern also edited and distributed a periodical,
Haderech-The Way. Editors of magazines dealing with Messianic Judaism published some of his articles. As a result of this ministry, many people, Jew and Gentile alike, learned more about God, Israel and the Bible. Some accepted Jesus as their Messiah.

In 1998, when some members and trustees moved out-of-town, and when Rev. Stern became ill, Hebrew Witness, Inc. was dissolved in compliance with the laws of the State of New York, under which it was incorporated.

The articles presented on this website are a continuation of the teaching and preaching phase of Hebrew Witness. They are the result of Rev. Stern’s extensive research, translations and writings.

Rev/Rabbi Sam Stern's wife Dorothy Stern a lovely lady I loved to talk too, and Dr. Howard Asinoff served as editors for these original articles. I, Rev. Barbara Di Gilio have put these up on our website to honor the late Rev./Rabbi Sam Stern memory.
If you get a chance get his book, it is so worth the read.

PS: Reading the inspiring story of the late Rev. Sam Stern, who was born in Poland and ordained as a rabbi was amazing. He fled from the Nazis to Russia with other Hasidic youth who posed as Polish. As a refugee after the war, he lived in a DP camp for several years. Rabbi Stern was then called to Providence, R.I. to serve in his capacity as a rabbi. Soon after, he found his Messiah Jesus Christ in his new homeland and dedicated his life to serving his Lord. Upon advice of a mission director, Symcha Sternshoss legally changed his name to Sam Stern upon being granted U. S. Citizenship. You can only find this awesome book on line now since both Sam and his wife Dorothy have passed away. If you search for it on line you'll find a copy anywhere from 12.00 to 60.00. But I urge you to go to Bible Baptist Bookstore and get a New Copy from them, it will be cheaper than looking on-line will be. Someone was sell their copy on Amazon for $59.00, that is crazy. I ger zero from the book store the sale of this book. Dorothy before her death sold them to the book store who printed the book. Last time I look it was less anf $10.00 fo a copy.
